Top 10 Blog Posts of 2024
As we enter the 2025 calendar year, we invite you to look back at our most popular blog posts from 2024.
The year 2024 proved to be both interesting and eventful.
From major elections occurring around the globe to ongoing wars in Europe and the Middle East and the overthrow of a decades-old regime in Syria—2024 was a year that will be studied by historians for years to come.
This year we published two new booklets: The Spirit World: Facts and Fallacies and The Middle East in Prophecy.
Our two new multimedia initiatives launched in 2023, Verse by Verse and Life, Hope & Truth Presents, continued to grow. (If you haven’t yet, consider following us on YouTube: Life, Hope & Truth YouTube Channel.)
As far as our blog posts, we had another strong year. At the time of this writing, our blog posts had over 1,027,450 views in 2024, with many of those coming from searches on Google.
Top 10 LHT blog posts of 2024
Here are our 10 most popular blog posts from 2024:
1. What Is the Meaning of Philippians 4:13: “I Can Do All Things Through Christ”?
“Philippians 4:13 is a popular religious message, appearing on everything from shirts and caps to socks and bracelets. It’s so common that even many nonreligious people are familiar with it . . .
“Philippians 4:13 is about how to overcome the trials of life and how to be content with your present circumstances—with what you do have . . .
“Paul recognized that the challenges he had personally experienced—and the ability to remain in a state of peace and contentment afterward—required a level of strength that was beyond human capability.
“The strength needed—the power to persevere—had to come from somewhere else, Someone else.”
2. What Is the Meaning of John 15:13: “Lay Down One’s Life”?
“How does Christ want us to lay down our lives for others? Are there multiple ways to apply this principle beyond literally sacrificing our physical lives?
“What does John 15:13 really mean, and what does it really ask us to do? How can Christians apply Christ’s words today? . . .
“While it is true that throughout history some have literally given their lives for others, the fundamental reality is that most of us will not literally be in that situation—nor do we want to be . . .
“In loving one another as Christ loved us, we can learn how to lay down our lives in service to our friends.”
3. The Meaning of John 14:15: “If You Love Me, Keep My Commandments”
“We should love God—He absolutely wants us to love Him! But what does it actually mean to love Him? . . .
“Many people profess that they love God—and express it verbally. But do they love Him enough to show love to Him as He commanded? Do they even understand what it means to love God? . . .
“In John 14:15, Jesus Christ made it quite clear how His disciples were to show their love for Him: ‘If you love Me, keep My commandments.’”
4. Are the Four Horsemen of Revelation Riding Today?
“One of the most famous prophecies in the Bible is the ominous ride of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse . . .
“Though the trends these horsemen represent have been on the world stage for a long time, they will escalate in intensity and impact during the end times. But, as terrible as they are, Jesus called them only ‘the beginning of sorrows’ (Matthew 24:8).
“Recent escalations in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia are leading many European nations to brace themselves for the possibility of a third World War.”
5. The Meaning of Matthew 4:4: “Man Shall Not Live by Bread Alone”
“When our physical needs for food, water, clothing and shelter are taken care of, we don’t tend to think very much about how we depend on those things. We naturally take them for granted. But without food or water, we will not live long. Without clothing and shelter from the elements, extreme temperatures will ultimately overtake us.
“This highlights an important truth: We are not totally self-sufficient . . .
“Yes, bread—food—is important because we would not live long without it. But no matter how much physical food we eat, we will still ultimately die, just as the Israelites died centuries ago. But the bread from heaven, the Word of God, is the spiritual food that leads to eternal life.”
6. The Meaning of James 1:25: What Is the Perfect Law of Liberty?
“In his epistle, James wrote of our need to look into and obey ‘the perfect law of liberty’ (James 1:25). The Greek word translated ‘liberty’ implies freedom from slavery.
“What law and what slavery is James talking about? How does this law provide freedom? . . .
“Instead of being freed from the need to obey the law, James was teaching about being liberated from the penalty of failing to follow it.”
7. What It Means to Let Our Lights Shine: Three Lessons From Matthew 5:16
“There are few images in this world quite as universally striking as light cutting through darkness. No matter how heavy the darkness, no matter how oppressive and smothering it might feel, all it takes is the tiniest light source to begin pushing it back.
“This world is darkness.
“And God wants you to be one of the lights that push it back.
“That’s what Jesus Christ told His disciples early in His Sermon on the Mount.”
8. The Meaning of Galatians 6:2: How to “Bear One Another’s Burdens”
“Bearing others’ burdens isn’t always easy, but if we are going to fulfill Paul’s admonition, we must know when and how to do it . . .
“We should be attentive to those suffering and offer sympathy and treat their hurt as our own . . .
“The specific actions we take to help others bear their burden will largely depend on the individual and the situation.”
9. How to Overcome Attacks From the Enemy
“The Bible refers to humanity’s nemesis as Satan the devil.
“He is a very real being who is active throughout our world. He’s not figurative or a mere symbol of evil designed to scare children into doing what’s right. He’s real, and ultimately, he wants us dead—eternally dead . . .
“So what can we do when these attacks happen? How can you stand when Satan attacks you?”
10. What Is the Meaning of James 1:17? All Gifts Are From God?
“In the book written by James, the half-brother of Jesus Christ, we read a moving passage emphasizing and praising God’s gracious gift-giving:
“‘Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning’ (James 1:17) . . .
“By studying this verse on a deeper level and analyzing its context, we can learn a great deal about God and how He deals with His children.”
