Our Challenge to You: Read the Bible This Year
The number of people who regularly read the Bible continues to decrease. We challenge our readers to join us in reading through the Bible this year.
Every year the American Bible Society releases a report called “The State of the Bible.” This report provides statistics (provided by the Barna Group) on how Americans view and use the Bible.
With every passing year, the report shows that the Bible is being read less and less.
What if…
What if you were called up by a survey organization and asked these questions:
- Do you own a copy of the Bible?
- Do you regularly read the Bible?
- Have you ever read the Bible from cover to cover?
Could you honestly answer yes to every one of those questions?
If so—congratulations! You are officially in the minority when it comes to Bible readership! But if you answered no to any of those questions, we have a challenge for you.
Why is reading the Bible so important?
The people behind Life, Hope & Truth believe the Bible is one of the most important gifts that our Creator has given to human beings. The Bible claims to be inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16).
We believe the Bible is one of the most important gifts that our Creator has given to human beings.
In other words, God has preserved His thoughts within the 66 individual books that comprise the Holy Bible.
We produce thousands of words of content on this website trying to help our readers understand what the Bible says and how it applies to them.
We hope you enjoy our material, but we also believe that there is unique value to reading the entire Bible yourself.
It will greatly enhance your overall understanding of the flow, context and themes of the Bible. It will also introduce you to many characters and stories you probably have not heard of—stories that aren’t often made into children’s books and movies. You can only discover all of these things by actually reading it.
Our challenge to you: Read the Bible this year
So we are issuing a challenge to our readers: Read the entire Bible—every word, every chapter and every book.
This may seem daunting—maybe impossible. But it is not an impossible task! In fact, we have four reading plans that you can choose from that will take you through the Bible throughout the 2025 calendar year.
Here they are:
- Themed Bible Reading Plan
- Advanced Bible Reading Plan
- Chronological Bible Reading Plan
- Genesis to Revelation Bible Reading Plan
You can find these and similar resources here: “Learning Center Reading & Writing Plans.”
When you have questions from your reading—which we guarantee you will!—we are always here to help you find answers. Not only do we provide articles on hundreds of Bible topics (just use the search function on our website), but we are always available to answer questions through our “Ask a Question” page.
So if your Bible has grown dusty from lack of use, take this opportunity to blow the dust off of it and commit yourself to reading it every day in the coming year.
