Way of Death
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
When God says something once, we should listen and obey. When He repeats it, how much more should we pay attention! This important principle is also stated in Proverbs 14:12, and God repeats it here to make sure we get the point.
Ever since our human parents chose the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we have been deciding for ourselves what is right and wrong. When our natural inclinations and society’s approval tell us something is right, we generally are completely convinced. But, sadly, our inclinations and society’s moral principles have been influenced by a deceptive evil being, Satan. He has found many ways to trick our moral compasses into pointing to the way of death when we think they point to the way of life.
The only solution is to reorient ourselves with God’s moral compass through His Holy Bible. Only there can we cut through the layers of self-deception and peer pressure to understand what is intrinsically and eternally right. God’s beneficial commandments show the way to peace and to life.
