He Will Heal Us
Come, and let us return to the LORD; for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
In Hosea 5, God explains that pride, spiritual prostitution, revolt against God and other sins resulted in the punishment of the people of Israel. This punishment is compared to a wound, and no other nation or physical treatment is able to cure this type of injury. Only God can do it, but He says, “I will return again to My place till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me” (Hosea 5:15).
The response God is looking for is described in Hosea 6:1-3. This returning to God, acknowledgment of God’s power to heal them spiritually and desire to “pursue the knowledge of the LORD” can be summed up as repentance.
