God’s Sons and Daughters
2 Corinthians 6:18
“I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.”
As we saw in the commentary on Ephesians 3:14-15, God is expanding His family. Here the apostle Paul quotes from 2 Samuel 7:14 (about David’s descendants) and expands its meaning to show God’s familial love for His people.
What greater love could we experience than to be God’s own sons and daughters? He desires to add many children to His family and to make us joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17).
