God Loves a Cheerful Giver

2 Corinthians 9:7

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

The apostle Paul, while trying to motivate the Corinthians to follow through on gathering the charitable aid they had promised, wanted to make sure they knew he didn’t want them to give just because they had to—grudgingly. He knew it would be much better for them if their giving was out of a real desire to help—cheerfully.

Knowing what pleases God—knowing what He loves—is a wonderful gift! By being cheerful givers, we can please God and become more like Him.
