A Refuge in Times of Trouble

Psalm 9:9-10

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

The result of Satan’s way of selfishness is evil and suffering, and often the suffering is spread to those who don’t deserve it. Until God steps in to remove all oppressors and to rule the earth, He provides refuge for those who trust in Him.

“Refuge speaks of a secure height, something inaccessibly high. David was often outdoors, and he used images from physical geography to describe the wonder of God’s protective care ( 91:1-2 )” (Nelson’s NKJV Study Bible note on Psalm 9:9-10).

With God as our refuge and fortress, we have nothing to fear. No enemy can come near us unless God allows it.
