Exodus 14:13-14

“And Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.’”

Moses said this as the people of Israel were trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army pursuing them. God miraculously opened a path for them through the sea, but destroyed the enemy when they tried to follow. 15th century B.C.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

King David wrote this about the time when his life was in danger from the Philistine king of Gath, when David pretended insanity to escape. 11th century B.C.

The writer of Psalm 91 is not identified, but this psalm is similar to Psalm 90, which was written by Moses. Possibly 15th century B.C.

Nahum 1:7

“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”

The prophet Nahum wrote this as part of a prophecy against Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrians who had taken Israel captive. Seventh century B.C.
