Journey Armor of God

Dear Reader,

God calls Christians to “fight the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12). To do that, we have to start by learning how to fight. Who is our enemy? How can we win? What tools are at our disposal?

When Paul wrote to the Ephesians, he was under house arrest in Rome—physically chained to a Roman soldier. That gave Paul an intimate knowledge of Roman armor, which God inspired him to use for one of the Bible’s most famous analogies.

Paul laid out six essential pieces of armor every Christian must put on before engaging the enemy. This armor—the armor of God—will keep us safe on our spiritual battlefield and enable us to fight back against the most wicked enemy this world has ever known.

During this 10-day Journey, we’ll take a close look at each piece of equipment—especially at the way its real-world equivalent highlights its spiritual function. From the sandals to the helmet, no Christian is ready for battle without first putting on the whole armor of God.

Every day of this Journey, you’re going to find three things:

  1. That day’s reading.
  2. Recommended passages from the Bible that tie in with and enhance that day’s subject.
  3. Supplemental material from Life, Hope & Truth that will help you dig deeper into that day’s subject.

The “good fight of faith” can be a challenging one, but God provides each of us with a powerful set of armor that guarantees our victory—if we’re willing to learn how it works and then put it to use.

Let’s begin!

All the best,
Your friends at Life Hope & Truth
