Your Word Is Truth
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.
On the night before His death, in the middle of His impassioned prayer for His followers, Jesus asked His Father to set His people apart by His truth. God’s truth is revealed to us in the Holy Bible, and in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
Using the Bible as our guide to truth, Christians will live and act in ways that set us apart as pure and holy (instead of sinful and profane). We will also be set apart to fulfill the job God has given us of preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God and serving as its ambassadors now.
Modern thinkers question even the existence of absolute truth, as it seems Pilate did in his examination of Jesus (John 18:38). To the sad and cynical cry of “what is truth?” we are to demonstrate the veracity of the Bible by living it.
