Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.
The holy God is always righteous and perfect. He abhors sin because it is opposite of His way of thinking. His laws produce good, but breaking them produces nothing but pain, suffering and sorrow.
God has all power—far more than enough to save us. He can hear everything! So why does He not seem to listen to every cry for help or every call to save us from distress? Sin is the problem. Sin cuts us off from God and brings automatic penalties on us.
Thankfully, our merciful God has made a way out of sin through Christ’s sacrifice. We must seek forgiveness and pray for repentance. For more about repentance, see our section on “Repentance.”
