This beautiful psalm builds in anticipation and praise for the coming King who will reign in glory forever.

So many times in history the gates of Jerusalem and the doors of the temple have been besieged and beaten down. But David foresaw the great joy the city and temple would experience in welcoming its rightful King.

The promise of the Kingdom of God is the hope and good news taught throughout the Bible. In the New Testament, we come to understand that this refers to the second coming of Jesus Christ to rule as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords over all nations (Revelation 11:15; 19:16).
