Tremble Before the God of Daniel

Daniel 6:26-27

I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, and steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end. He delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

Yesterday on the Daily Bible Verse Blog we looked at the trap that Daniel’s enemies set for him, convincing the king to make a law that would make Daniel choose between serving God and obeying the king. Daniel chose God and was punished by being thrown in the lion’s den. But God heard his prayers and protected Daniel from the hungry lions.

The king was “exceedingly glad” that Daniel was spared through his faith in God (Daniel 6:23). He had Daniel’s enemies thrown to the lions, and made this amazing decree, recognizing God’s power, deliverance and enduring Kingdom.
