The Way to Death

Proverbs 21:16

A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead.

This proverb restates what is repeatedly taught in the Bible—there is a way that seems right to humans, but it ultimately brings death (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25).

When God created Adam and Eve, He told them not to eat of the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil,” because it would bring death (Genesis 2:16-17).

Many years later, when God led the ancient Israelites from Egypt, He gave them His laws. God told them that abundant life would come from keeping His laws, but death would result by straying from them (Deuteronomy 30:14-19). God urged them to choose life!

If we choose to neglect and reject God’s laws, we, too, will end up in the assembly of the dead (Romans 6:23).

Choose life!
