The Second Death
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
God is fair, and He is also loving and merciful. He desires for all to repent and be saved (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4), and He will give everyone a full and complete chance to do that.
However, if someone chooses to reject God’s beneficial way of life and to continue in the destructive ways of sin, God will not give that person eternal life to continue spreading misery. Those who do not accept Christ’s sacrifice will be mercifully burned up in the lake of fire. This second death is an eternal death from which there is no resurrection.
