The Lord God Omnipotent Reigns!
And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!”
The return of Jesus Christ is the most momentous event in future prophecy! Without His second coming, humanity would destroy itself (Matthew 24:21-22). His return will bring the Kingdom of God to rule the earth for the benefit of all.
The book of Revelation contains many expressions of praise for God’s greatness and for the awesome plan He is working out. Here it seems a huge choir of angels and perhaps resurrected humans is announcing the beginning of Jesus Christ’s reign as King of Kings over the nations of the earth.
Alleluia is the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew word that means “praise the LORD,” and Omnipotent refers to God being all-powerful.
What a wonderful day it will be when Jesus Christ returns! No wonder the apostle John concluded the book of Revelation with his impassioned plea: “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).
