Seek God, Not Wizards

Isaiah 8:19-20

And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

The prophet Isaiah decried the people’s tendency to look for spiritual help from anyone but the Creator God. In spite of the clear commands to avoid witches, wizards and those who claimed to contact the dead, some looked to these evil spiritual influences rather than seeking God’s guidance and following His way of life.

Today most people in Western democracies don’t believe that witches and wizards and mediums have real influence, but they still give them more attention than they give God’s laws! God does not approve of these things for entertainment or Halloween decorations or costumes. He hates the forces of darkness and wants us to walk in the light of His Word.
