Repent, the Kingdom Is at Hand
From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
After His baptism and His temptation by Satan, Jesus Christ began His public ministry. His message was the same one John the Baptist had preached (Matthew 3:2). All have sinned by breaking God’s laws, so all need to repent—to change.
Jesus Christ, as the King of Kings in that coming Kingdom, reminds us that His Kingdom is on its way. We can live by the laws of that Kingdom now to prepare to serve with Christ.
The Kingdom of God is good news—it is the solution to the seemingly insolvable problems of today. We can be very thankful it is on its way and turn that thankfulness into additional motivation to change and prepare for God’s Kingdom.
