Prophesied Time of Trouble

Daniel 12:1

“At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book.”

The message of the Bible is the gospel (good news) of the Kingdom of God—a Kingdom governed according to God’s good and beneficial laws and under the rule of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

However, humanity has chosen to follow the way that causes suffering—the way of disobedience to God and His laws. Bible prophecy shows that this choice inevitably leads to the greatest time of suffering the world has ever known.

This worst time in all history is also known as the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), since the descendants of Jacob (also called Israel) will be particularly targeted by the evil government (the beast) and religious system (Babylon the Great) described in the book of Revelation (13:1-8; 17:1-18).

Thankfully, Daniel 12:1 and Jeremiah 30:7 both end with a note of hope. God will deliver His people and rescue humanity from self-destruction. We will read more about this tomorrow. In the meantime, read more about how this time of trouble fits into end-time Bible prophecy in our article “End-Time Prophecy.”
