Pray for More Laborers

Matthew 9:37-38

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Why did Jesus say this? Verse 36 explains, “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.”

Jesus cares deeply about people and has chosen in this age to do His work through human beings. He wants us to also feel deep compassion and urgency in doing His work.

He is training His Church to assist Him in His Kingdom by learning to assist Him now. That training involves preaching the good news of the coming Kingdom of God and serving those God calls to respond in this age (Matthew 24:14; 28:19-20).

The world is a huge place, and the laborers are indeed few. Please pray with us that God will send more laborers into this spiritual harvest.
