O Jerusalem

Matthew 23:37

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!”

O JerusalemShortly before His crucifixion, Jesus reflected on all the sins of the people of Jerusalem, especially the religious leaders and their ancestors. They had killed the prophets of old and were now preparing to kill their Creator and Savior! Because of these sins, the city would be punished and destroyed (Matthew 23:36, 38).

But Jesus showed what was in His heart. He lamented their sins and their unwillingness to let Him protect and nurture them. He deeply cared for them and longed to gather them. But they rejected Him.

God also desires to gather all those He is calling today. We must not reject Him but must respond to His calling and appreciate His protection.
