My Peace I Give to You

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.

“Shalom”—peace—was a customary greeting and farewell among the Jews. But Jesus wasn’t just saying a regular goodbye. He was offering real spiritual peace to His disciples. “The peace that Christ gives banishes fear and dread from the heart, for Jesus is in control of all circumstances” (The Nelson Study Bible note on John 14:27).
