My Meditation All the Day

Psalm 119:97

Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.

Meditation is focused thinking about what we diligently study in the Bible, pondering how to apply it and how to think more like God thinks. It’s thinking deeply about how good and beneficial and beautiful God’s principles are. It is writing God’s Word and His way on our hearts and minds.

Psalm 119 continues the theme begun in the very first Psalm, praising God’s law as the perfect revelation of how God thinks. “But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1:2).

We, too, should love and delight in God’s revealed law. As commentator Matthew Henry wrote, “What we love we love to think of.”
