My Heart Pants

Psalm 38:9-10

Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You. My heart pants, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also has gone from me.

David poured out his heart to God in his prayers and his songs. He knew that God knew his needs and saw his distress. He explained that he needed God’s help as he needed air and water. He felt he was on the verge of death.

The psalm ends with David again calling out to God: “Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!” (verse 22). God is our only hope!
