Love Suffers Long
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.…
Paul’s description of godly love in 1 Corinthians 13 has led to the chapter becoming known as the Love Chapter. This list highlights the giving nature of God and the love He wants us to show to Him and others.
Longsuffering—patience—is a key element of godly love. God is patient and merciful with us, and He wants us to be the same way to others. God is also kind, so He wants us to be kind.
Paul also lists many things that love is not. Real godly love is humble and serving, not puffed up, conceited and prideful. It does not seek to show off.
