Keep Them Through Your Name

John 17:11

“Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.”

The night before He died, Jesus Christ prayed a meaningful and powerful prayer on behalf of His disciples and the members of the Church of God who would be called after them. He prayed for their protection from the evil one, for them to be set apart by God’s truth and for their unity.

Keeping them in God’s name includes helping His followers retain the knowledge of God’s truth and power and helping them remain in awe of God. It includes representing God’s name properly and being identified by it as the Church of God.
