Is God Listening to Your Supplications?

Psalm 130:2

Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

A supplication is an earnest prayer, addressing a very specific and usually urgent need.

When we are in need, appealing to God should be our first priority, not a last resort. We should approach God with thanksgiving for the things He has done for us in the past, and then not be overly concerned after we present our supplications to Him (Philippians 4:6-7).

But in order for God to hear our prayers, we must be following His laws and show Him the respect He deserves (Isaiah 59:1-2; 66:1-2). We are encouraged to humble ourselves and draw near to God (by prayer, occasional fasting and meditation) so He will draw near to us and be attentive to our prayers (James 4:8, 10).
