I Will Raise to David a Branch of Righteousness
Jeremiah 23:5
“Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.”
God promises to send a King of the line of David—the Messiah to reign in the Kingdom of God.
Verse 6 makes clear that this is not talking about just a human descendant of David. Notice the miraculous peace this King will bring and His divine name: “In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
