“I Will Come Again”

John 14:3

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.

The night before His death, Jesus Christ wanted to encourage and instruct His disciples. They didn’t really understand what He meant by saying He was going away. He explained it was necessary for Him to leave them, but He would be coming back.

During this time between His first and second comings, Jesus Christ is getting ready for His return, preparing “mansions” or permanent dwelling places for His servants and training them to help Him rule and serve the world upon His return.

When Jesus Christ comes again, He will welcome His faithful followers into the Kingdom of God that He will rule from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:1-4). As John recorded in Revelation 5:10, faithful Christians will have important work to do in that Kingdom: “And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”
