Humans Made in the Image of God

Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

The Bible tells us that God created the sea creatures, birds and land animals, each after its own kind (Genesis 1:21, 24-25). But with humanity, it was different. Human beings were created in the image and likeness of God—after the God kind!

Humans have the potential to become children of God in God’s family forever. As the apostle John wrote, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1).
