How Excellent Is Your Name

Psalm 8:1

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens!

Psalm 8 “is a poetic reflection of the great creation text of Gen. 1” (Nelson's NKJV Study Bible comment on Psalm 8). This verse focuses on the Creator Himself. God’s personal attributes, signified by His name, far surpass the wonders of the physical heavens and the earth. Discovering and thinking about the wonders of the creation should help us see how much more excellent and glorious the Creator is.

We will look at other passages in Psalm 8 in future weeks, but note that the ending echoes the beginning, with praise for God’s excellent name.
