Hide Me Under the Shadow of Your Wings

Psalm 17:7-8

Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings. …

God loves His people and protects them as carefully and lovingly as a person protects his eye and as a hen protects her chicks.

Jesus Christ also used this analogy to describe His love for Jerusalem: “How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Matthew 23:37).

“Lovingkindness: This significant term for God’s loyal love is enhanced by the Hebrew term for marvelous, a word used in the Bible only with reference to God” (NKJV Study Bible, note on Psalm 17:6-9).
