Grow in Grace and Knowledge

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.

The apostle Peter, near the end of his life, was motivated to encourage and “stir” up his readers to remember the important things of God’s way of life (2 Peter 1:13-15). He ended his last book with this admonition to grow—a constant theme throughout the Bible.

Many of Jesus Christ’s parables taught the principle of growing (Matthew 13:18-23, 31-32). He often pointed out the importance of bearing good fruit (Matthew 7:15-20; 12:33), and the apostle Paul also talked about producing the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

By staying connected to Jesus Christ, the true vine, we will grow and produce good fruit (John 15:1-8).
