God’s Word Shall Not Return Void

Isaiah 55:11

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

God created the water cycle (Isaiah 55:10). He made clouds and rain to water the earth, to cause plants to grow and then for the water to evaporate to become clouds again.

In the same way, God sends His message into the world to produce fruit. We may not always see the spiritual fruit developing, but God assures us that His words will accomplish what He pleases and prosper.

God tells us that His people, by supporting His Church, have a part in spreading God’s Word and His good news (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15). He tells us, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38).

God uses the physical harvests to teach us about the spiritual harvests of His plan of salvation. Learn more about the fruit God is growing in our section on the “Biblical Festivals.”
