God’s Love for Us
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Ever since Adam and Eve rejected God’s lead and obeyed Satan, mankind has been cut off from God and has been living generally sinful lifestyles.
Sin brings terrible consequences and ultimately death (Romans 6:23). But God has not given up on mankind. God still loves His children and wants to bring humanity into His family (1 Timothy 2:4).
It is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven of sin and have the opportunity to be reconciled with God (Romans 5:8-10).
True Christians understand that their personal sins necessitated the death of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:36; Romans 3:23). They also understand that “believing in Him” involves keeping God’s commandments in order to avoid a sinful lifestyle (Matthew 7:21-23; John 14:15).
When we take time to contemplate what the Father and Christ have done for us, we should be extremely thankful and show the same love to others (1 John 4:19).
