God Sees All

Psalm 14:2-3

The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.

God knows everything—He is omniscient—and He knows that every person has sinned. Only Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, and everyone else must seek His forgiveness. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the only thing that can pay our death penalty and make us right with God.

The apostle Paul quoted from this psalm in demonstrating that all have sinned (Romans 3:12).

Paul summarizes the thought in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This leads to death; but thankfully, through repentance and Christ’s sacrifice, “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
