Faith, Blood and Salvation
By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
Moses and the Israelites had seen God’s power through nine plagues on Egypt, and when God told them to sacrifice lambs and put blood on the doorposts to be saved from the 10th plague, they obeyed. “Then the children of Israel went away and did so; just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did” (Exodus 12:28).
Those Passover lambs all pointed to Jesus Christ, whose shed blood allows God to forgive and pass over our sins when we repent. By faith we can follow His instructions to us to repent and keep on repenting (Acts 2:38-40; 1 John 1:9). As God saved the Israelites physically, He also offers us the way to “be saved from this perverse generation.”
