In order to encourage the Corinthians, the apostle Paul sought to put the trials and tribulations of the Christian life in perspective. From the perspective of eternity, the problems of this temporary life will seem light, though they may not seem so now. But enduring our trials and overcoming our temptations will produce weighty results of godly character that will last forever!

As Paul said, “We do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).
