Don’t Send a Lazy Man

Proverbs 10:26

As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy man to those who send him.

One thing employers are not looking for is someone who will be a lazy employee. The hassle and worry about whether essential tasks will get done is not worth it to the employer.

Jesus Christ may have had this Proverb in mind when He told about the unprofitable servant who buried his talent rather than working with it (the parable of the talents, Matthew 25:24-25). This principle is also demonstrated in the parable of the two sons by the son who said he would go work in the vineyard but who “did not go” (Matthew 21:30).
