Dishonesty Doesn’t Pay

Proverbs 13:11

Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.

The temptation to cheat just a little whispers that it provides the easy way to wealth. Why do things the hard way if just cutting a few corners can make your life so much easier?

But God gave King Solomon the wisdom to see beyond the short-term “success” of some who choose the way of dishonesty. Some few may achieve wealth for a while; and some, for a fairly long time. But in the end, lying, cheating and dishonesty will not pay.

On the other hand, the slow and steady increase of a diligent worker will accumulate over time. This may not be evident in the early years; but in the long run, hard work and honesty will provide by far the best result. The physical blessings will only be the tip of the iceberg of the true eternal spiritual blessings of honesty and godly character.
