Delaying His Coming

Matthew 24:48

“But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming. …’”

In a previous post we read Jesus Christ’s praise for those followers who will be busily doing the jobs He’s given them when He returns. But He calls those who think He is delaying His coming “evil” servants.

The passage continues in verses 49-51: “And begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

We don’t know when Jesus will return, but we must not let down. We must be about God’s work. For more about this, see “Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God.”
