Come Boldly to the Throne of Grace

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The physical high priest was only allowed to enter the Most Holy Place in the temple once a year, on the Day of Atonement. Through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and intercession—as One who has compassion because of suffering with us—we can come anytime to the throne room of the universe! We can come boldly—“‘with confidence’ or ‘freedom of speech’” (Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary on Hebrews 4:16).

What a wonderful blessing to be offered mercy, grace and help from God our Father through Jesus Christ His Son and our High Priest. The Greek word for help “signifies ‘to run at the cry’” (Adam Clarke’s Commentary on Hebrews 4:16). When we cry out for help, God will hear and run to help us!
