Christ Is Worthy

Revelation 5:9

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.

The four living creatures and the 24 elders around God’s throne continuously praise and worship God.

Revelation 4:8 and 11 record their praise for God’s holiness and for the wonderful power shown through His creation. The fact that He is Creator clearly makes Him worthy “to receive glory and honor and power” (Revelation 4:11).

But in Revelation 5:9 they express additional reasons that human beings can be thankful for Jesus Christ’s worthiness. On behalf of the saints, this angelic choir sings a new song about Christ’s sacrifice to pay for our sins. He has redeemed us without limitations in regard to race, language or nationality, and He has prepared for us an awesome future in His Kingdom.
