Beware of Deception
Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
Can you be deceived?
Perhaps a better question to ask is, are you deceived?
One of the consistent warnings throughout the Bible is that human beings are susceptible to deception. We see this problem from the first book of the Bible, where Eve was deceived by the serpent (Genesis 3:4-5; 2 Corinthians 11:3), to Christ’s warning that many will be spiritually deceived in the end times (Matthew 24:4-5).
How do you make sure you are not deceived—and keep yourself from being deceived? The Bible provides a two-step approach to keeping yourself from deception:
- Regularly study the Bible (Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 4:12).
- Seek guidance from teachers who are trained to teach the Bible and who live by it (Nehemiah 8:8; 2 Timothy 2:1-3; Hebrews 5:12).
