But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality [incorruption] to light through the gospel …

Jesus Christ, by paying the death penalty for our sins, has made it possible for humans to be forgiven and offered eternal life. Death is our enemy, and the apostle Paul wrote that it will be the last enemy that will be destroyed (1 Corinthians 15:26).
In the end, death and mortality will be abolished, and incorruptible life will be given to the forgiven, faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Paul also wrote that “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
