Karen Meeker was born in Oklahoma and grew up in West Texas. She has been married to her husband, George, for over 57 years. Her husband is a retired minister, and serving alongside him gave her the opportunity to live in different places around the United States and visit several continents around the world. They have three children, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She and her husband call Missouri home in their retirement years and continue to serve in the St. Louis, Missouri, congregation of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association.
After her children were grown, Karen set about tying up loose ends; namely completing her college degree—an achievement that had to be put on hold for years due to family and church responsibilities. Her supportive husband “scholarshipped” her so that she could realize her lifelong dream of earning her bachelor’s degree in writing from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.
Karen enjoys writing for church publications and occasionally for regional magazines, as well as for her own blog, WomenfromtheBook.com. She is particularly interested in the examples of women in the Bible and what they can teach women today.
