David Hicks is the managing editor, graphic designer and a contributing writer for Discern magazine. He’s also the managing editor and designer for booklets produced by Life, Hope & Truth, as well as One Accord—a newsletter for the Church of God, a Worldwide Association, in McKinney, Texas. In addition, he provides graphics and illustrations for other areas of need within the Church of God, a Worldwide Association.
He has a degree with honors in graphic communication and design and has been actively working as a freelance and corporate graphic designer since 2011. Before joining the Life, Hope & Truth team he had a variety of careers, ranging from carpentry to professional rodeo to aerial photography.
David and his wife, Ginger, first met as youth in 1993 at a Sabbath service in Atlanta, Georgia. After many years apart they reconnected in 2008 and have been married since July 2009. David spent his childhood in Ohio and has also lived in Florida, Kentucky, Alaska, Missouri, Tennessee and now Texas.
His interests include first and foremost spending time with Ginger, family and close friends. He also enjoys hiking, kayaking, camping, hunting, fishing and he has a passion for snow skiing.
