Christianity Confuses Me!
Christianity confuses me! Let me tell you why:
Since the first century, Christianity has grown into the most popular religion in the world!
From a small group of disciples and followers in the early first century—often referred to in history these days as “primitive Christianity”—to the more than 2.2 billion followers in 40,000 different “Christian” denominations and sects around the world today.
But the confusing part about it is this: Why are there so many different versions of Christianity—and more importantly, why do they teach such very different views of doctrine and “truth”?
Jesus Christ (whom, by the way, Christianity is named after!) requested that His heavenly Father set apart His disciples by “truth”! That makes sense!
Years later the apostle Paul referred to the Church as the “pillar and ground of the truth.” That makes sense as well!
Given those descriptions, one would assume that the Christian Church would represent truth in every sense of the word!
But with thousands of different denominations of Christianity on earth—representing hundreds of very different beliefs—how can they all represent “truth” as the Bible said the Church would?
From the Roman Catholic Church to the hundreds of differing Protestant denominations and independent fellowships, the world of Christianity represents diverse and opposing teachings on almost all doctrinal topics!
They cannot agree upon whether or not the Bible is inspired. They can’t agree upon creation. Their definitions of God vary, and they don’t see eye to eye on the value of the law of God. They argue about how to worship God, differ on issues of sex and morality, and represent scores of varying views on the fate of sinners!
And, under the broad umbrella of what is called Christianity, you can find hundreds of differing teachings on one of the most important topics of all: the destiny and future of mankind!
Growing up as a young boy in one of the largest Christian churches on earth, I was taught that the destiny of man was to go to heaven and stare at the face of God … for all eternity!
The fact is, the Christian world cannot agree on any of these core doctrines and teachings.
Logic tells us “they can’t all be right!”
And because of that, Christianity is confusing!
But the real question is, are any of them “right”? Is there any single denomination or group in the Christian world that fully represents the truth of God’s will and plan for mankind?
God’s Word tells us the answer to that question is “YES!”
Jesus Christ stated that the Church would always exist—and that it would always represent the truth.
Not thousands of differing versions of doctrine and truth—but one.
If Christianity is confusing to you—I suggest you read the one book that can clear up that confusion: the Bible.
Let the Bible give clarity to the confusion that Christianity has brought. And let God’s own revelation show you that true Christianity is not confusing at all!
As a matter of fact, it makes a lot of sense.
