Silver-Haired Head
The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness.
God teaches us to show respect and honor to the elderly (consider Leviticus 19:32; Proverbs 20:29; 1 Peter 5:5). This principle strengthens society by helping younger generations learn wisdom without having to make all the mistakes themselves. It also promotes stability and teaches kindness and giving.
Of course, all these lessons are more challenging if the elderly are not living God’s way—not living rightly or wisely. But when the silver-haired live righteously, the lessons and the benefits are aligned and the honor is well-deserved. An elderly person who sets a good example is a blessing to those around him or her.

What is righteousness? The Bible says, “All Your commandments are righteousness” (Psalm 119:172). For more about living a righteous life, see the section on “The 10 Commandments and God’s Way of Life.”
