What does “thought-for-thought” mean with regard to Bible translations?
A thought-for-thought translation (such as the Good News Translation) aims to translate the intended meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts (rather than each individual word). These translations are more susceptible to mistranslations due to bias or misunderstandings.
